FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Concrete Pouring Begins at Kookaburra Lodge

The Newest Luxury Hotel at Sun Peaks Resort!

May 28, 2008 – Sun Peaks, BC – The foundation is being poured TODAY for the newest luxury condo-hotel at Sun Peaks Resort! The first phase of Kookaburra Lodge will open to residents in February 2009.

Nestled in the heart of Sun Peaks, the first phase of Kookaburra Lodge offers 16 affordable, residential apartments ranging from one to four bedrooms, plus eight commercial spaces on the ground floor of the building. The Lodge will also play host to the second village tower, this one bearing tuned cast brass bells that will ring in important community events and occasions.

The up-scale suites in the Kookaburra Lodge are designed with more space for overseas guests who plan to spend extended periods of time at Sun Peaks Resort. “We have identified the need for the resort to have larger, more long-stay apartments for our guests, and the Kookaburra Lodge is a unique product that will compliment the current types of accommodation at Sun Peaks,” commented Paul Farrell, Director of Kookaburra Lodge Investments.

The Kookaburra Lodge is the vision of the Farrell Family, who began wintering in Whistler from Australia twenty years ago. Ten years ago, the Farrell’s purchased property at Sun Peaks and designed and built their own chalet where they have become active members of the Sun Peaks community. The project is being managed by Paul Farrell, Director of Kookaburra Lodge Investments.

The Kookaburra Lodge was designed and engineered in Australia with support from local engineers in Kamloops and Kelowna. As the project moves into the construction phases, the Farrell Family is continuing in their efforts to support local companies by hiring contractors primarily from Sun Peaks and Kamloops.

The building is designed with some innovative features to help minimize the impact on the environment. Cross ventilation and a heat-recovery ventilation system are just a couple of initiatives that will help work towards a green rating for the building.

75 percent of phase one is already sold out and over 50 percent of that is Australian buyers. The second phase will be put up for sale later this summer.
